The Weekend Flash Sales Are Over — Here's What Changed and What You Can Still Get
April 1, 2026 · Cellulo Team
The March 31 deadline delivered. Over the weekend, Canadians who had been watching the Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus flash sales finally pulled the trigger — switching plans, switching carriers, and in some cases switching both. The $25 80GB CAN-US-MEX plan from Koodo and the $27 matching offers from Fido and Virgin Plus were among the most competitive flanker prices we've seen. As of April 1, those prices are gone.
Here's what the market looks like today — and what to do if you missed it.
What Expired at Midnight
All three end-of-quarter promotions closed March 31:
- Koodo's 80GB CAN-US-MEX BYOD plan: $25/mo → now $50/mo
- Fido's 80GB CAN-US-MEX BYOD plan: $27/mo → plan no longer available at this tier
- Virgin Plus's 80GB CAN-US-MEX BYOD plan: $27/mo → now $49/mo
The pricing gap that opened up at Q1 close has closed. This is normal — carriers hit their subscriber targets and the urgency to discount disappears. The same pattern will likely repeat at Q2 close in late June.
What the Flanker Plans Look Like Now
With the flash sales gone, here's where Fido, Koodo, and Virgin Plus stand today:
| Plan | Fido | Koodo | Virgin Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best 5G option (Canada-wide) | 60GB — $44/mo | 80GB — $50/mo | 80GB — $49/mo |
| CAN-US-MEX roaming | 60GB — $49/mo | 80GB — $50/mo | Not available at standard tier |
| 100GB | $55/mo | $55/mo | $55/mo |
| Starter (250MB) | $19/mo | $15/mo | $19/mo |
All postpaid prices require autopay enrollment.
The 100GB tier is a three-way tie at $55/mo across all three carriers — same as it was during the flash sale period. If you're shopping that tier, nothing changed.
At 80GB, Koodo and Virgin Plus are now both at the $49–$50 range. Fido no longer offers an 80GB BYOD plan — the best available is 60GB at $44/mo, or 60GB with CAN-US-MEX roaming at $49/mo.
If You Switched Last Weekend: Here's What You Locked In
If you moved to Koodo's $25 BYOD plan before March 31, you're on a month-to-month plan at a price that's now $25 cheaper than the equivalent Koodo plan today. There's no lock-in — but there's also no reason to leave. That rate stays until you change it.
The same applies to Fido and Virgin Plus customers who switched to the $27 80GB plan. Existing Fido customers who upgraded from older plans — some of whom were paying $54/mo — are now saving up to $324 a year by staying exactly where they are.
If You Missed It: Mark June 30 in Your Calendar
The Q1 window is closed. The next opportunity follows the same pattern — Q2 closes June 30, and based on what we saw in March, expect flanker brands to start moving in the final two weeks of June. Fido, Koodo, and Virgin Plus will be under pressure to hit Q2 subscriber targets, and Freedom Mobile's aggressive permanent pricing keeps the competitive floor low enough that the Big Three flankers can't afford to stay quiet for long.
Set a reminder for mid-June and check Cellulo on Thursday evenings — that's when weekend flash sales typically surface. The $25–$27 pricing tier we saw in March may return, and if it does, the window will be short.
