Fido, Koodo, and Virgin Plus Just Brought Back 80GB CAN-US-MEX Plans. They Expire April 20.
April 18, 2026 · Cellulo Team
At the end of March, Fido, Koodo, and Virgin Plus were selling 80GB Canada-US-Mexico BYOD plans for $25/mo. The deals were so aggressive that TD Securities downgraded all three parent companies -- BCE, Rogers, and Telus -- in a single note, calling it a race to the bottom. Those plans expired March 31.
This weekend, a version of those deals is back. Not as cheap -- but 80GB with North American roaming included under $50 is still well below what these carriers charge the rest of the year. And they expire Sunday April 20.
If you missed the March window, this is the next best thing available right now.
What Was Available in March vs What Is Available Now
| Carrier | March Price | April Price | Data | Roaming |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fido | $25/mo | $49/mo | 80GB | CAN-US-MEX |
| Virgin Plus | $25/mo | $49/mo | 80GB | CAN-US-MEX |
| Koodo | $25/mo | $50/mo | 80GB | CAN-US-MEX |
The March plans were roughly 50% off standard pricing. The April plans are closer to 15-20% off. Still a meaningful discount -- but the urgency is real. These expire Sunday.
The Plans Available This Weekend
| Carrier | Price | Data | Roaming | Network |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fido | $49/mo | 80GB | Canada, US, Mexico | 5G |
| Virgin Plus | $49/mo | 80GB | Canada, US, Mexico | 5G |
| Koodo | $50/mo | 80GB | Canada, US, Mexico | 5G |
All prices reflect autopay discount. Fido saves $5/mo with autopay, Virgin Plus and Koodo save $10/mo. All plans are BYOD month-to-month -- no contract, no device financing.
Which One to Pick
Fido and Virgin Plus are tied at $49/mo. Koodo is $1 more at $50/mo but adds a free perk -- options include 3-Day Easy Roam International, Rollover Data, Unlimited Long Distance to 27 countries, or a 5G Speed Boost. If you travel internationally beyond North America, Koodo's Easy Roam perk makes it the stronger pick despite the extra dollar.
Fido includes Unlimited International LD to 27 countries and Enhanced Voicemail. Virgin Plus includes hotspot and suspicious call detection. Neither charges extra for hotspot at this tier.
For pure value with no frills: Fido or Virgin Plus at $49/mo. For travellers who go beyond North America occasionally: Koodo at $50/mo with the Easy Roam perk.
The 60GB Canada-Only Tier
All three carriers also have a 60GB Canada-only plan at $40/mo if North American roaming is not a priority. That is a solid option for customers who never cross the border. But if there is any chance you will travel to the US or Mexico in the next year, the 80GB CAN-US-MEX plan at $49-50/mo is the better deal -- $16/day US roaming adds up to $112 for a 7-day trip on its own. Alternatively, Cellulo travel plans are much more affordable than roaming charges/travel passes. Learn more at Affordable Travel Plans.
When the Next Window Opens
These promotions follow end-of-quarter patterns. March 31 closed Q1 -- the most aggressive window in years. Q2 closes June 30. Under the CRTC's new fee ban taking effect June 12, activation and cancellation fees are eliminated entirely. That means the late June window will be the most frictionless switching moment Canadians have ever had -- no activation fees, no cancellation fees, just the plan cost.
If you are on a legacy Rogers, Bell, or Telus plan and are not ready to act this weekend, June is your next window. Cellulo will track every plan change between now and then so you do not miss it.
If you are ready to act now -- this weekend is the window. These plans expire April 20.
